On June 6, Eng. Alfredo Magalhães, responsible for the Business Development sector of the Sunshine Coast Municipality in Queensland, Australia, as part of a trip to Portugal, took the opportunity to visit LIPOR Home Composting Centre.

In the near future, the Municipality intends to improve the organic collection system and install an organic recovery unit in its territory.

Sunshine Coast is the third most populous area of the Australian state of Queensland. Located 100 km north of the state capital, Brisbane, in southeast Queensland, on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, its urban area covers approximately 60 km of coastline from Pelican Waters to Tewantin. The estimated urban population of the Sunshine Coast is 302,122 inhabitants, making it the ninth most populous of the country.

The representative was truly impressed with the state of development of Solid Waste Management in Portugal and particularly with LIPOR's performance in the sector.
