Area 1 - INFORMATION
Lipor is responsible for direct and indirect greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, whether originated from waste management activities (energy and organic recovery, multi-material recovery and landfill disposal) or complementary activities (administration facilities, transport and mobility). Lipor assumes its responsibility for the management of the impact of its activity by calculating those emissions and implementing measures to reduce them, thus reducing their effects on climate. The emissions associated with energy consumption can be reduced through rationalisation of consumption and economic efficiency.
The first area of intervention Lipor 2M - Information - is based on the compilation and dissemination of reliable information regarding GHG emissions associated with Lipor's activities and the potential emissions avoided by sustainable waste management options.
Lipor's GHG emissions inventory was prepared according to the "Greenhouse Gas Protocol", created by the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the World Resources Institute (WRI), by usage of the specific calculation methodologies for the waste management sector defined by the National Greenhouse Gas Emissions Inventory.
