Casa do Corim hosts the launch of the children’s book “The adventure of a drop of light”

Casa do Corim opened its doors on June 21st, at 6 pm, to host the launch of the children’s book "The adventure of a drop of light”. This short story tells the adventures of a bottle of water that, unlike usual, does not end up in the yellow recycling bin, but has a greater destination, in a country without electricity. The story aims to raise awareness among young people about solidarity and sustainability and show how small ideas can contribute to a better world.

The story is based on a real pedagogical project with the same name, developed by students and teachers, and winner of a global award, celebrating 10 years of existence. The aim of the project is to bring light to communities in Africa, where electricity is still a luxury. The revenues revert directly to the project.

The Gota de Luz (Drop of Light) Project, by NGDO Educafrica, was born in 2014. The book was written by Inês Rodrigues, president of the NGDO, who with her students and fellow teachers developed low-cost solar lamps made from recycled water bottles and simple circuits with LED lamps. The lamps accumulate solar energy during the day and illuminate at night. A sustainable and affordable alternative to plastic waste.

This event was attended by author Inês Rodrigues, as well as Fernando Leite, Managing Director of LIPOR and Graça Borges, Director of Communication, Institutional Relations and Sustainability of the SuperBock Group, who told us about the importance that companies have in supporting the third sector initiatives.
