Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde says “No to Food Waste”!

As part of the Green Heart Certification, a process that aims to improve good environmental management practices and accelerate sustainable behaviors, Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde is evaluating food waste in 7 of its units!

The objective of this assessment is to promote sustainable meals, through the adoption of practices that cause less impact and promote the reduction of food waste.

The Casa da Criança, Casa das Rosas, the Support and Rehabilitation Center for People with Disabilities, the Prof. Doctor Jorge Azevedo Maia, the Social Center in Macieira and the Home for the Elderly. It is planned to start this process soon in the Integrated Continuing Care Unit as well.

This assessment is part of a more comprehensive work being developed at Santa Casa da Misericórdia de Vila do Conde and which encompasses the prevention of waste production and local treatment, the promotion of recycling and the promotion of biodiversity, and which will culminate with the award of the Green Heart Certification.
