This project’s purpose is to study the environmental characterization and mapping of biotopes by LIPOR’s areas and assessment of impacts on biodiversity in peri-urban context: the case study of the Laúndos landfill (Póvoa de Varzim).
The Studies of Characterization and Diagnostics have as general objectives:
1 - To make a general characterization of environmental and ecological conditions in LIPOR’s areas, and produce a detailed mapping of biotopes;
2 - Develop a methodology about assessment infrastructure impacts on biodiversity in peri-urban context, and test this methodology by conducting a case study on Laúndos landfill.
This project is developed in collaboration with the Research Center in Biodiversity and Genetic Resources, hosted by the University of Porto – CIBIO, under technical and scientific direction of Professor João Pradinho Honrado and Dr.ª Ângela Lomba.
