Vegetables are planted in Urban Gardens, but much more is harvested!

The primary objective of the Horta à Porta Project is to reconvert urban spaces into cultivation spaces, and also enhancing the treatment of bio-waste at source, through Home Composting.

However, urban gardens have a much more important role than bringing the population closer to the land! In addition to promoting sustainable eating, through cultivation models inspired by organic farming, the aim is for gardens to be spaces for friendliness, leisure and community spirit.

The Horta da Senhora da Hora (Matosinhos) was the 4th garden to receive the teambuilding initiative promoted by LIPOR and the Municipality of Matosinhos. In this sense, we joined forces with the gardeners with the common objective of promoting some improvements at the area, enhancing the feeling of belonging and unity between all those involved.

At the end of the workshop, in addition to sharing a snack to which everyone contributed, Horta's managers organized a sardine party where there was no shortage of peppers, cornbread, pork belly and, of course, sardines!

The Horta à Porta Team would like to thank the gardeners at Horta da Senhora da Hora for a well-spent Saturday morning.
