The Serbian environmental protection agency visits LIPOR

On 12 March, LIPOR hosted the distinguished visit of a delegation from the Serbian Environmental Protection Agency and the Portuguese Environment Agency (APA).

It was a productive meeting, with an exchange of information and experiences on sustainable practices and environmental measures, strengthening the ties of co-operation between the two countries. The meeting, which took place on LIPOR's premises, addressed crucial issues relating to environmental preservation and efficient waste management.

After the meeting, the delegation was taken on a guided tour of the Sorting Centre, the Automatic Packaging Sorting Line and the Cemetery Waste Sorting Line, where they were able to get a closer look at the process of separating and recycling materials. The advanced technology and innovative methods used in automatic packaging sorting impressed the visitors, who emphasised the importance of implementing similar practices in their country.

Another highlight was the Organic Recovery Centre, where methods of transforming organic and green waste into valuable resources such as "Nutrimais" organic compost and substrates were presented. The Serbian delegation showed great interest in these initiatives, recognising the need to seek sustainable solutions for waste treatment.

This visit strengthened international co-operation ties, highlighting LIPOR as a benchmark for good environmental practices. The exchange of knowledge between Serbia and Portugal promises to yield significant benefits for both nations, driving joint efforts towards a more sustainable and ecologically responsible future.
