Queima das Fitas do Porto 2024 recognized as a Green Heart Event

The Porto Academic Federation (FAP) submitted Queima das Fitas 2024 for Green Heart Certification, a recognition—granted by LIPOR and its Associated Municipalities—that values the commitment of applicants to implementing environmentally responsible and sustainable measures.

With this submission, a collaborative effort began between the Porto Academic Federation, Porto Ambiente, LIPOR, and other entities involved in this process, with the shared goal of increasing the environmental responsibility of the initiative and raising environmental awareness among participants.

After evaluating the implemented practices and their impact on the results achieved, the Green Heart Certification was awarded to Queima das Fitas 2024, making it the first major event to receive this recognition. The certificate will be presented by the Vice-President of the Porto City Council and a LIPOR board member in a ceremony to be held on October 16th, as part of the celebration of the 8th anniversary of Polo Zero and the presentation of FAP's sustainability framework.

The path to sustainability is built with responsibility and an understanding that there are always opportunities for improvement, making this a continuous process. Certification applicants receive a report highlighting the good practices implemented and areas for improvement to be addressed in future editions, so that in 2025, we can have an even more sustainable Queima das Fitas!
