LIPOR delivers the results of the 18th phase of Operação Tampinhas

"One gesture. Two Causes"

In this phase of LIPOR´s "Operação Tampinhas” (Operation Bottle Caps), which took place between January and December 2022, a total of around 45 tonnes of caps were received and sent for recycling, which amounted to around €24,000.00 in revenue. The proceeds from the sale of the caps go entirely towards the purchase of orthopedic material/equipment and similar items for donation to institutions and individuals, benefiting 25 entities.

This initiative began in April 2006 and in the total of 18 phases we have already supported 683 entities and/or individuals, with more than 640 thousand euros in equipment.

With "Operação Tampinhas”, LIPOR and its associated Municipalities encourage Civil Society to deliver plastic caps for recycling and deliver them to LIPOR, or to the facilities of the associated Municipalities, as well as to Public and Private Institutions in the Region.

The Institutions and individuals were selected based on an analysis of the requests that arrived during the period in which the 18th phase took place and based on the criteria defined in the Operation Tampinhas Application Rules.

This is the result of a common will of Schools, Municipalities, anonymous Citizens and recycling companies, among many others, who, through a small gesture, defend two causes: the environment and solidarity.
