Five second-hand markets keep 20,000 items in circulation
Since the beginning of 2024, LIPOR, in partnership with SPOT, has been working on developing a reporting and measurement methodology related to the environmental impact of second-hand goods markets - the Flea Market.
With the collaboration of second-hand "Sellers” through the completion of a survey, it was possible to estimate the quantity (in kg) of reused goods across five markets held during the first half of the year. These five events allowed for more than 24,000 kg of goods to be reused, corresponding to approximately 20,000 items that remain in circulation, avoiding their disposal as waste. Thanks to the efforts of all those involved, it was possible to prevent CO2 equivalent emissions corresponding to the sequestration of 3 hectares of forest.
In the second half of the year, we will continue to promote and measure these markets and their contribution to sustainability, aiming to support the sustainable growth of such initiatives.
Do you organize or promote a second-hand goods market in the LIPOR area? Contact us, and together we will continue to measure your contribution to the circularity of goods!
