TAE Celebrates Its First Anniversary: A Milestone in Sustainability and Efficiency

One year ago, LIPOR and its associated Municipalities celebrated the inauguration of the New Automated Packaging Sorting Unit (TAE), the largest in installed capacity on the Iberian Peninsula. Since then, we have witnessed the positive impact that this innovative infrastructure has brought to our commitment to sustainability.

This unit has enabled an increase in packaging processing capacity while ensuring an improvement in the quality of materials at the end of the process, as well as greater reliability and operational flexibility.

Over the past 12 months, TAE has achieved excellent results, with a total of 1,060 hours worked and the production of 10,192 bales, corresponding to the processing of 7,320 tons of materials, demonstrating the efficiency and robustness of the installation. This investment, which involved around 9 million euros, co-financed by POSEUR, has allowed us to significantly increase the packaging processing capacity and boost the recycling rate, in line with the goals established by PERSU 2030.

During this initial operational period, we have progressively increased the capacity of the facility and the actual working time, which will allow us to start operating in two shifts as of October.

This unit is an example of innovation and digitalization, equipped with cutting-edge tools that allow real-time monitoring of mass balances, remote operation control, and precision in material quality assurance through optical systems and artificial intelligence.

This first year is a testament to the ongoing commitment of LIPOR and its associated Municipalities to maximizing recycling and waste recovery, thereby contributing to the European Union's goals for the Region and the Country.

We continue to give more to Recycling!
