LIPOR continues to promote waste prevention in its target markets

LIPOR has been working hard on Waste Prevention in its area of intervention, namely in close collaboration with its Associated Municipalities.

In fact, this strategy is so integrated into its DNA that it has naturally accompanied the development of initiatives in Waste Management in other countries where LIPOR's International Business Division has been working.

Through strategic partnerships and international projects, LIPOR shares its experience in promoting projects to reduce waste generation and promote effective solutions to minimize environmental impacts and follow the path of the Circular Economy.

LIPOR believes that, in any project to improve Waste Management Systems, and from a perspective of accelerated growth and high production, Prevention must always occupy a central role and be a priority.

LIPOR Global Waste Management has acted to empower its international partners and clients, enabling them to adopt practices that prevent the excessive production of waste at source. This includes encouraging a reduction in the consumption of materials, the promotion of reuse and repair and the adoption of more sustainable product design, leading to more sustainable organizations and more responsible consumers.

In addition to promoting waste reduction, LIPOR also works to raise awareness among local communities and governments about the importance of looking at the life cycle of products in a more sustainable way, establishing a culture of prevention that ranges from environmental education to the implementation of more effective public policies.

LIPOR, in partnership with local authorities, has been trying to accelerate a transition to the circular economy, making it possible not only to reduce the costs associated with waste management, but also to generate new business models and create green jobs, stimulating more sustainable economic development.

LIPOR has presented good examples over the years, such as:
  • The technical assistance to the Ecojovens Project, with the creation of the "Small Appliances Repair Workshop” in Angola.
  • The presentation of LIPOR's integrated waste management model, as well as its Circular Business Strategy, at the 5th Waste Management Seminar "Towards an orderly transition from the cleaning service to the circular economy”, organized by the Colombian association Andesco - Asociación de Empresas de Servicios Públicos y Comunicaciones, in Bogotá.
  • The "Consulting Services for a Waste Characterization Study in Trinidad & Tobago” project has been successfully completed.
  • The CITRES Project - Integrated Solid Waste Collection and Treatment Center on Maio Island, in Cape Verde, co-financed by the European Union and Portuguese Cooperation, through Camões - Instituto da Cooperação e da Língua, I.P., which began this year and is currently being developed by a large team of LIPOR International Consultants.
