LIPOR Celebrates 42 Years Commitment to People, the Planet, Prosperity, and Partnerships

Founded in 1982, LIPOR - Municipalities Association for Sustainable Waste Management of Greater Porto - comprises 8 Municipalities: Espinho, Gondomar, Maia, Matosinhos, Porto, Póvoa de Varzim, Valongo, and Vila do Conde.

Today, November 12, LIPOR proudly celebrates 42 years of commitment to sustainability and its purpose of "Every Day we Build a Better World".

Over more than four decades, we have been consolidating our mission to "Transform waste into new resources through the implementation of innovative and circular practices, generating and sharing value."

This date is an opportunity to reinforce the importance of the VALUES that guide us and define our organizational culture. Our VALUES are the foundation upon which we build our path, the value of our Organization and our Brand.

We are ambitious and passionate.

We are creative and we think positive.

We are responsible and rigorous.

We are ethical and a TEAM.

We are committed to LIPOR!

As we celebrate 42 years of existence, this commitment is reaffirmed in a holistic vision of sustainability, which integrates the social, environmental and economic dimensions in a balanced and synergistic way, focused on the People, the Planet, Prosperity and Partnerships.

LIPOR is made up of people: Employees, Municipalities, Partners, Citizens and Communities who share the LIPOR Lifestyle.

Our daily work, from waste management to environmental education, training, and awareness, communication, the creation of products & services that serve our clients and the Community, aims to protect our legacy for future generations. It’s with this spirit that we also have our "B-side," the Biodiversity side, through which we develop strategies to offset the impacts of our activity, turning them into benefits for biodiversity.

We do not just manage waste. We create value.

Our work goes beyond waste management, promoting the circular economy, giving the best possible outcome to the waste we receive, valuing it, transforming it, creating products and services; investing in new equipment, new vehicles, more technology, and more digitalization; leveraging our operations in new markets; developing new projects; creating trends; and contributing to the sustainable economic development of the region, the country, and the world.

We believe in the power of collaboration because together we do more and do it better.

We know that no significant change can be made in isolation, which is why we cultivate strategic partnerships with municipalities, companies, organizations, and citizens. Our 42-year history is made of co-creation and networked work that has allowed us to innovate, grow, and implement increasingly efficient and effective solutions.
