Casa do Corim Hosts the 1st Annual Meeting of act4nature Portugal

The 1st Annual Meeting of act4nature Portugal took place on November 7th at LIPOR, in Casa do Corim.

The event was marked by the exchange of experiences and sharing among companies that, together and through act4nature Portugal, protect and promote biodiversity, as well as the restoration of ecosystems across their value chains. The initiative follows a science-based, objective approach that contributes to a better response to future challenges in managing natural capital, while also benefiting the quality of life for people and the sustainability of local economies.

LIPOR became a signatory of act4nature Portugal, having already established its individual commitments in 2020 during the first wave of the initiative’s membership, and is also part of the Steering Committee. This reflects the importance of our "Side B" — the Biodiversity side, the other side of LIPOR that we would like everyone to know better.

In the morning, a field visit was held at the Parque das Serras do Porto, where participants learned about LIPOR's "Square Meter" program, which is part of the LIFE Serras do Porto - Adapting Serras do Porto to Climate Change project, funded by the LIFE Program. They also participated in an acacia bark stripping workshop and had the opportunity to explore the iNaturalist app, highlighting the importance of involving society in scientific knowledge about the biodiversity of national territories.

The day concluded with a partnership with the REBN - Network of Night Butterfly Stations, which organized a workshop on observing night butterflies.
