Bookcrossing: Share Books, Reduce Waste, and Transform the World into a Library
Waste Prevention is a fundamental pillar in the strategy of LIPOR and its associated municipalities, reflecting the commitment to sustainability and environmental protection. By reducing the amount of waste generated, we promote a healthier and more balanced future for the next generations, aligning ourselves with circular economy practices.
Bookcrossing is a practice that aims to promote the circulation of books while encouraging reading: the idea is to create sharing spaces, usually in public locations, so that books can circulate, be read, and shared again.
Like this, we transform the world into a great library and contribute to reducing waste, facilitating cultural exchange and access to reading, allowing more people to enjoy books that would otherwise be left on shelves or discarded.
There are currently four Bookcrossing Stations available in the municipalities of Gondomar, Maia, Póvoa de Varzim and Matosinhos, so you can exchange your books with comfort and ease. With the implementation of a QR Code at LIPOR's Bookcrossing Stations, we aim to measure the impact of this initiative and adapt the strategy according to the expectations and feedback from all participants. Through this interaction, we can continuously improve the process, making this practice even more effective and engaging.
Cooperate and make reading circular!
