LIPOR changes the waste management reality of 50 institutions in the first half of 2024

Aimed at public and private entities, LIPOR's Specialized Technical Support for Waste Management service ended the first half of 2024 with 50 new implementations covering a universe of 29,934 people. Highlights include the development of several actions that included the installation of more than 6,930 pieces of equipment to promote recycling, the promotion of 102 awareness-raising actions and more than 180 hours of training.

Among other activities undertaken during this period, LIPOR, in articulation with the Associated Municipalities, provided specialized consultancy in large-scale Events, namely ComicCon, TEDxPorto, Queima das Fitas do Porto and Porto Beer Fest, which resulted in the estimated delivery of around 32 tons of materials for recycling, avoiding the emission of 24,722 kg of CO2 equivalent.

In addition to the new implementations, the service's premise is to maintain continuous follow-up and monitoring, which resulted in around 50 monitoring sessions and more than 68 hours of effective work with entities with good waste management practice systems already implemented.

The Specialized Technical Support provided by LIPOR is presented as a proximity offer, based on a simple, but ambitious and judicious approach, which changes the reality of waste management in institutions, making it common and sustainable.
