LIPOR's WAYSTE project wins the National Innovation Award
LIPOR won the National Innovation Award, in the Business Segment category, Public Sector subcategory, with its WAYSTE project, Waste Management Platform.
The WAYSTE Platform, developed internally by LIPOR, stands out for its ability to integrate a constantly growing flow of information, thus supporting the waste management monitoring model implemented by LIPOR in its associated municipalities.
WAYSTE establishes a new information model, which is both scalable and robust, allowing the management of customer databases, equipment, circuits and the collection of essential data on waste collection operations, guaranteeing their complete traceability.
The National Innovation Award (PNI) is an initiative promoted by Jornal de Negócios, BPI and Claranet, in partnership with ANI – National Innovation Agency, and COTEC Portugal as institutional partners, Galp as sponsor, Cascais as innovative municipality, and Nova SBE, as a knowledge partner.
The basis of all WAYSTE development work began in 2018 with the aim of concentrating all relevant waste system management data, namely Collections and Recovery, on a single platform. This platform currently manages more than 97,000 daily records, improving the monitoring and management of Collection projects in LIPOR's associated municipalities.
With a strong statistical analysis component, WAYSTE allows the user to monitor the development of their projects and the fulfillment of the goals defined in their Strategic Plan. At the same time, it is possible to analyze the efficiency of the circuits, the participation rates of customers served and the efficiency of the equipment installed on public roads.
WAYSTE has an Android Application connected to it, for use in the field, which allows the operation to be managed on site, giving teams the ability to record collections, alerts, photographs or any operations that are relevant to them, which are communicated in time real for WAYSTE. The Application can also add and manage customers, associate equipment or manage public road or conditional access equipment.
The constant collection of operational data allows WAYSTE to create a service usage profile for each customer, which allows it to design dedicated awareness campaigns thus increasing participation rates and process efficiency. This same profile supports the implementation of PAYT systems, which, as an obligation provided for in PERSU 2030, allows us to contribute to increasing tariff fairness in the sector.
